My client for this card commission made it clear that they wanted me to base my design on a painting created of their original building right next to traditional old-timely train tracks. I did give them three different options, but in the end, they went for the design that looks most similar to the reference. I then moved onto creating a first draft, and they liked how it looked but wanted me to remove the buildings in the back, to make the text more obvious and to add a 5cm bleed.
After I sent in the illustration (left), they told me to change the title to a red and to add more union jacks, to include the made in britain logo. I also filled out the 5cm bleed so that if it was cut a little too big, it wouldn't look weird.
I sent in the illustration on the right and the illustration below - they chose the one below and they were really happy with the result!
