kira's corner

My long time friend and (now) client, Kira, had decided to open a small local business for her art products, this includes art prints, keychains, magnets and more. The main keyword used within this project was "whimsical," which I totally loved and was way outside my comfort zone.

She sent me a couple of typography examples, and I tried to incorporate the ones that fit best into one logo, with a good couple of iterations along the way. I created two logos for her overall, the first one being the simple "Kira Win" logo for her name, and "Kira's Corner" for her business stall.

The versions of the logo that weren't used were the ones with the little cat head. The client said that the cat just didn't seem to fit quite right (and I agreed), I would rather turn it into an icon than to have it within the logo.

Next came the business cards, which the client provided her own illustration for after I refused to create an illustration for her. I didn't want my art to get confused for hers or vice versa, after all business cards are a selling point, and my main job is to sell her brand and artwork through my graphics.

The official back of the business card, with everything aligned and colour co-ordinated, is shown on the right. I also changed the text to my own original hand-written font and used a QR code for accessibility.

Overall, this was a massive learning experience, and I also did all of the printing for this project (and some of the cutting too, if I had time). I am very grateful for my friend and client for giving me a chance!
